3M PT1100 Acrylic Plus double-sided tape 5m, highly adhesive
colour: black
The 3M™ Acrylic Plus PT1000 series tape finds its typical applications in the attachment of rigid attachments where an aesthetic visible edge is desired. "The double-sided tape is made of black acrylic foam with additional acrylic adhesive on both sides. The typical applications of the tape are attachments of rigid add-on parts such as spoilers, antenna housings, roof rails and wheel arch extensions where an aesthetic visible edge is desired. The double-sided adhesive tape has excellent long-term stability as well as very good adaptability to the surfaces to be bonded. Due to the unique viscoelastic property of the PT1000, tensions in the adhesive seam are excellently relieved, resulting in an extremely durable bond.
- Very good adhesion to many automotive paints and MSE (plastics with medium surface energy, e.g. ABS)
- Temperature resistance from - 40°C to + 90°C, briefly 120°C (data are load-dependent)
- Optimised acrylic foam core for more complex application and very good adaptation to component surfacesWeather, UV and solvent resistant
- Weather, UV and solvent resistant
3M™ Acrylic Plus double-sided tape PT1000 series is available in the following thicknesses: PT1100: thickness 1.1 mm, density 545 kg/ m³; PT1500: thickness 1.5 mm, density 521 kg/ m³.
Recommended applications:
- For mounting and fastening sales displays, samples and advertising boards.
- For fixing and fastening trim strips and emblems
- For bonding sills, spoilers, antenna housings, roof relining, wheel arch extensions
- For fixing rigid components, e.g. in the automotive sector
PT1100 is a 3M™ Acrylic Plus adhesive tape made of a black acrylic foam with additional acrylic adhesives on both sides. Typical applications are attachments of rigid add-on parts, such as spoilers, sills, antenna housings, roof rails and wheel arch extensions, etc., where an aesthetic visible edge is desired. PT1100 has very good adhesion to a wide range of automotive surfaces, good internal strength, excellent long-term stability as well as very good conformability to the surfaces to be bonded. PT1100's unique visco-elastic properties provide excellent stress relief in the bond line, resulting in extremely durable bonds.
Processing and storage information
Surface condition
The surfaces must be dry, free of dust, oil, oxides, release agents and other contaminants.
Surface cleaning
The following cleaning agents, for example, can be used to remove dust, oil, release agents and other impurities:
Isopropanol/water 50/50
Heptane or ethanol
Acetone or MEK
Suitable other cleaning agents that do not leave any residues and do not attack the substrate.
Temperature
The most favourable processing temperature (object and ambient temperature) is between +15°C and +25°C.
Pressure
The strength of the bond is directly dependent on the contact that the adhesive has with the surfaces to be bonded. A short, high pressure (e.g. with a squeegee, pressure roller or pressure device, etc.) ensures good surface contact. The type and amount of pressure depends on the material (thin- or thick-walled, etc.) and the geometry of the components. Rule of thumb: approx. 20 N/cm².
Storage
The rolls should be stored in their packaging protected from light at a temperature between +15°C and +25°C and a relative humidity of 50%.
