3M™ 5952 VHB high performance adhesive tape double sided, mounting tape for automotive and industrial applications.
Colour: black
Length per roll: 3m
3M™ VHB™ 5952 - High performance adhesive tape made of high quality acrylic foam, offers optimum conformability to the surface to be bonded. This means that both thin and structured surfaces can be bonded over the entire surface without tension. Since 1980, the continuous development of innovative 3M VHB solutions and applications has contributed to the success of major companies worldwide. Today, 3M VHB tape is used in a wide variety of markets including rail and commercial vehicles, electronics, commercial signage, windows and doors, and household appliances, as well as in the construction, aerospace and furniture industries. The continuously developing product range includes 3M VHB adhesive tapes for bonding and sealing a wide variety of materials.

Manufacture the components of your end product to make it even more impact resistant and durable (e.g. action cam or dashcam). Rain, sun, wind, heat or cold - 3M VHB adhesive tape has proven itself as a reliable connection solution.
Benefits:
Weather resistance
Resistance to vibrations and shock loads
Protection against water and dirt
Comparison of 3M™ VHB™ tape with foam tapes:
3M VHB is visco-elastic. A key advantage of 3M VHB adhesive tapes over foam adhesive tapes is their visco-elasticity and therefore their ability to absorb energy and relieve tension. Unlike foam tapes, 3M VHB tapes can be stretched to up to 50% of their thickness without tearing or peeling. 3M VHB adhesive tape (vs.foam adhesive tape )
Tension-free bonding (vs.tension in the bond )
Energy is absorbed and tension (vs.foam backing prone to cracking )
Trailer and vehicle construction - Rivet-free for a smoother ride. Eliminate rivets and screws that can loosen, causing unwanted noise and leaks.
The 3M VHB adhesive tape allows you to create smooth side surfaces so that design films can be applied afterwards.
Benefits:
- Strength and durability
- Light weight
- Aesthetics
The 3M VHB adhesive tape is visco-elastic - While foam adhesive tapes only have a thin film of adhesive on the top or bottom, the 3M VHB adhesive tapes are made of adhesive through and through. The viscoelastic structure of the 3M VHB adhesive tape allows it to flow into the surface. It does not harden, but remains flexible and builds up 100 percent wetting.
3M VHB adhesive tape (vs. foam adhesive tape)
100 % closed cell acrylic adhesive (vs.Can be open/closed cell)
Surface roughness and tolerances are compensated for by the adhesive flowing into the surface (vs. Can only compensate for minor surface roughness or tolerances)
Optimised production - 3M VHB tape resists heat. Short-term temperature resistance up to 230 °C allows materials to be bonded together prior to powder coating or liquid painting.
Benefits:
Eliminate the need for spot welded joints
Temperature resistance
Increase throughput
Shear and tensile forces are usually unproblematic because the force is distributed over the entire surface.
- Shear force: The force acts parallel to the bonding surface
- Tensile force: The force acts perpendicular to the bonded surface
Splitting and peeling forces, on the other hand, should be avoided by design, as the forces only act on a small part of the bonding surface.
Splitting force:
The force is not uniformly distributed over the bonding surface, but is concentrated on one line, both joined parts are rigid
Peeling force:
The force only acts on the edge of the bonded surface, so that only a very small amount of adhesive can counteract it, at least one bonded part is flexible
3M VHB adhesive tape enables multi-material joints in the assembly of household appliances, materials such as glass or metal to be joined together easily and securely.
Benefits:
Vibration damping
Realise multi-material joints
Fast assembly
3M VHB bonds and seals materials
... with high surface energy, such as metal, painted surfaces, painted wood, glass, many plastics and ceramics with low surface energy, such as PE, PP, powder coatings
Design smart devices more compact Use moulded die-cuts for extreme accuracy of fit in smart device applications, including bonding device covers, lenses, displays and other components that require a thin, slim design.
Benefits:
Realise multi-material joints
Die-cut parts for a high accuracy of fit
Impact resistance
Advantages of 3M™ VHB™ tape over mechanical fastening Design freedom.
Compared to screws or rivets, the 3M VHB connection remains invisible
Even distribution of stress
Eliminates point loading compared to mechanical fasteners
Taped joints distribute forces evenly
No thermal distortion
Materials used can be made thinner (e.g. wall thickness when welding) Compensates for unevenness
Components are connected completely and without gaps
No restoring forces, stress-free compensation of tolerances after dwell time
Surface roughness and unevenness are compensated by viscoelastic adhesive (max. 50 % of the adhesive tape thickness) Connections of material combinations
Different coefficients of thermal expansion can be compensated (e.g. plastic and metal)
Expansion differences are possible up to 300% of the adhesive tape thickness
3M VHB adhesive tapes are still the industry standard after more than 30 years and offer decisive advantages over mechanical connections such as screws, rivets or spot welds.
Minimising the risk of corrosion
With 3M VHB adhesive tape, no holes are required for fastening, the surface protection (e.g. zinc, paint) is not damaged Sealing function
Protection against the penetration of dirt or water into the joint structure Weight reduction
Significant weight advantage over mechanical fastening Simple and fast fastening

Processing and storage instructions Surface condition:
The surfaces must be dry, free of dust, oil, oxides, separating agents and other impurities Surface cleaning:
The following cleaning agents, for example, can be used to remove dust, oil, separating agents and other impurities: Isopropanol/water 50/50, heptane or ethanol, acetone or MEK, suitable other cleaning agents that leave no residue and do not attack the substrate.
Temperature:
The most favourable processing temperature (object and ambient temperature) is between +15°C and +25°C.
Pressure:
The strength of the bond is directly dependent on the contact that the adhesive has with the surfaces to be bonded. A short, high pressure (e.g. with a squeegee, pressure roller or pressure device, etc.) ensures good surface contact. The type and amount of pressure depends on the material (thin- or thick-walled, etc.) and the geometry of the components. Rule of thumb: approx. 20 N/cm².
Storage:
The rolls should be stored in their packaging protected from light at a temperature between +15°C and +25°C and a relative humidity of 50%.
